The jackpot has a fixed starting value of $20 million, which converts to around £12 million but it will fluctuate depending on the exchange rate. It rolls over every time that nobody wins and can quickly climb into the hundreds of millions of pounds. The jackpot occasionally even reaches 10 figures!

Rather than a one-time sum, the jackpot is paid out in annual instalments over 30 years. This provides a larger prize in total than a single cash payment, and also gives you a guaranteed income for a long time.

If there are multiple winners of the Jackpot prize, it will be split between all the winners who have matched the winning combination of numbers. The second prize is a fixed £1 million per winner for UK players, while the Match 2 prize is set at £8. All the other prizes are based on the number of winners and how much money has been generated from ticket sales in the UK, so they will not be the same in every draw.

How to Claim Prizes

If you play online, most prizes are paid directly into your player account, while you will also be notified of any wins. For in-store players, you can claim most prizes from a retailer, or submit an online claim. The largest prizes, such as the jackpot, must be claimed in person from the National Lottery.

In the UK, the time limit for claiming prizes is 180 days from the date of the winning draw. If you buy a ticket through a U.S. state lottery, the claim period may be different.
